CONDITIONS OF POOL USE
- Admission to the swimming pool complex (the ?Swimming Pool?) is granted with a swipe card (the ?Card?), available from reception upon payment of a refundable deposit. Such deposit can be made in cash or as a pre-authorisation on a debit or credit card at Barend Swimming Pool?s discretion. People will not be admitted to the Swimming Pool without a Card, those found permitting entry to people not authorised to use the facilities will forfeit their card.
- The Cards remain the property of Barend Swimming Pool (?BSP?) and must be returned if requested. Cards are not transferable. Please return your Card to reception (or the letterbox outside reception if reception is closed) when you leave. Please do not bring the Card to the farmhouse if reception is closed.
- If the card is lost, forgotten, or not returned for any other reason your deposit will not be refunded (in the case that the deposit was made via a pre-authorisation BSP will charge ?5.00 to the card).
- The Swimming Pool does not have a lifeguard and all guests enter at their own risk. Neither BSP nor the lodge owner take any responsibility or liability for any injury or death caused by lawful or unlawful use of the Swimming Pool.
- All guests are expected to comply with the following pool rules. Staff may request guests to leave the Swimming Pool, if in the staff?s opinion the guest?s behaviour is not acceptable or poses a risk to themselves or other Swimming Pool users.

- We appreciate that use of the pool is an important aspect of your holiday, however we do reserve the right to restrict access to the pool at peak holiday times when unrestricted use would, in our view, lead to overcrowding and consequent loss of enjoyment for all.
- Neither BSP nor the lodge owner accept any responsibility for any losses from the Swimming Pool.
Barend Swimming Pool Additional Guest Rules relating to Covid-19
In light of recent updates from the Scottish Government and Scottish Swimming, Barend Swimming Pool is due to reopen on a limited basis from 31st August 2020. We will be closely monitoring the use of the pool to ensure guests? safety and may amend the rules and procedure at any time.
To ensure the safety of all guests it is imperative that these rules are followed (in addition to the normal terms and conditions). Where there is a conflict, these rules will take precedence.
Barend Swimming Pool opening hours and times
- Barend Swimming Pool will only be available for use during office opening hours, to enable us to oversee its use. Opening hours are:
- Monday - Saturday 9.00am-5.00pm
- Sunday 10.00am-4.00pm
- Please note reception itself will remain closed to guests.
Sauna
The sauna will remain out of use for the current time. It must not be entered.
Time Slots and group size
- Guests will be allocated a 55 minute time slot, beginning on the hour.
- Our aim is to allocate at least one slot per lodge per week (or per stay if less than one week). Where multi-lodge bookings are made, we will attempt to allocate one slot per lodge.
- Please confirm which of the following timeframes you prefer:
- A morning slot (9-12)
- Afternoon slot (12-3)
- Evening slot (3-5)
- Where possible we will allocate in accordance with preferences but it might not be possible to always do this. We will notify you one week prior to arrival of your allocated time slot.
Good behaviour deposit
For the safety of all our guests, and the continued enjoyment of the pool, a ?25 ?good behaviour? deposit will be required. For BHL guests this will come under the standard pre-authorisation. If guests turn up early, leave late, or put other guests? safety at risk, this security deposit will be taken by Barend Swimming Pool and you will be denied further access to the pool.
Use of pool process
- A one way system will be in place for the pool. Entry will be via the swipe doors on the hour. GUESTS MUST NOT ARRIVE EARLY. Guests must come ?beach ready? - i.e pre-showered and changed.
- Hand sanitiser and disinfectants will be available - guests are expected to clean surfaces to their own satisfaction and use reasonable measures to reduce contamination risk.
- The coffee machine will be available for use, with hand sanitiser.
- The viewing area will be open, but only one bench will be available. Guests are to wipe down after use. It should only be used when necessary to supervise swimmers.
- The toilet in the ladies? changing rooms will be available for use.
- Only one changing room will be open to minimise additional cleaning required. No lockers or benches will be available, to reduce touch points. Guests must remove shoes before entering the changing rooms, walk through and place their shoes and over-garments on the bench by the fire-exit. The showers by the changing rooms will not be in use.
- There are very few touch points in the pool area (mainly handle-rails). Disinfectant will be available for guests to use to clean these if they wish.
- The chlorine levels in the pool ensure no transmission can occur in the water.
- Guests must leave the swimming pool building by 5 minutes to the hour. This means they must be out of the pool, changed and leaving, not just getting out. This is imperative to avoid over-capacity of the pool and maintain social distancing. We will be able to see guests using the CCTV, but we cannot be constantly policing guests. If we find that we have to go down every hour to get guests out of the pool, we will have to close it, because we do not have the staffing capacity to do this.
- The showers will not be available for use. Guests are requested to put a dressing gown etc on and return to their lodge to shower and change. If the weather is poor guests can use the changing room to change but need to be cogniscent of minimising touch points and ensuring they are still ready to leave on time. Baby changing facilities will still be available
- At the end of the holiday cards are to be returned to the box next to reception marked ?keys?. If they aren?t returned ?5 will be deducted to cover the cost of new cards.
